HEREMA has been nominated in 2022 as the responsible authority for managing on behalf of the Greek state the rights for permitting and licensing the areas for the development Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) projects. Moreover, HEREMA is managing on behalf of the Greek state the hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation rights and serves as the licensing and permitting authority for underground storage of gases and liquids (such as CO2, natural gas, and hydrogen).

Within this context, HEREMA is open to collaborate with an Energy Legal Counsel to support HEREMA’s Offshore Wind Department.

As an Energy Legal Counsel, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our success story by:

  • – Using your experience in a wide spectrum of energy projects focusing on regulatory advisory/compliance and energy law policy issues;
  • – Combining energy law regulatory knowledge with risk assessment and due diligence tasks;
  • – Becoming a member of a legal team and further enhance legal knowledge on related matters and provide valuable market input;
  • – Having direct contact and interaction with external partners and stakeholders;
  • – Applying relevant regulatory knowledge to cases and legal solutions that refer to every-day energy law compliance of our company.

During your contractual execution you will get the chance to:

  • – Establish relationships, coordinate and collaborate with relevant state authorities and offshore wind developers
  • – Work, as required, with other team members, as well as with other Company teams (Environmental, Geoscience, Engineering, Finance), to deliver your projects or to assist the other teams in their projects
  • – Plan and attend, when required, meetings with third parties and/or investors related to offshore wind energy sector
  • – Acquire experience in the energy law and general legal aspects of a wide field of energy projects;

You will also be able to actively contribute, and further develop your skills by engaging with teams that:

  • – Are involved in the planning of OWF
  • – Are working in achieving the goals set by the management
  • – Are striving to guide and share knowledge to junior personnel

We would like to hear from you if you have the following Required Qualifications, Skills/Attributes and Working Experience:

  • a Bachelor’s Degree at Law and bar admission;
  • – 4-6 years of working experience as a lawyer with at least 3 years of systematic and hands-on experience in energy law transactions relating to renewables and natural gas;
  • – full professional capability in Greek and English ;
  • – competence in Microsoft Tools;
  • – an LLM in fields related to energy or public law will be a significant plus;
  • – previous experience with law 4964/2022, 4014/2011, 4412/2016 will be appreciated;
  • – good understanding of the Greek energy regulatory environment, taking into consideration the latest EU Target Model developments;
  • – ability to analyze the applicable regulatory requirements and provide interpretation and practical advice on the framework concerning all aspects of energy law and policy;
  • – working experience in energy related regulatory authorities in Greece will be a significant plus;
  • – advanced interpersonal skills and attention to detail;
  • – excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • – perform well in a fast-paced environment, constantly changing schedules and priorities, balancing external influences from internal and external parties and stakeholders;
  • – demonstrate highest level of ethics and ability to maintain confidentiality at all times with all situations and documentation.
