HEREMA has been recently nominated as the responsible authority for managing on behalf of the Greek state the rights for underground fluids storage, including the permanent storage of CO2 in geological formations. More specifically, HEREMA is the licensing authority for CO2 exploration and storage permits and is actively working with all stakeholders for the development of a regulatory framework and business model for the full Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) value chain.
Moreover, HEREMA is managing on behalf of the Greek state the hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation rights, as well as and state the rights for permitting and licensing the areas for Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) developments
Within this context, HEREMA is open to hiring a CCS Project Engineer to join HEREMA’s new CCS Department in order to work, among others, on project management, development of technical specifications, technical reporting, licensing and permitting processes, and development of the relevant regulatory framework.
As a CCS Project Engineer you will have the opportunity to contribute to our success story by:
- – Preparing technical reports and/or presentations regarding the proposed projects
- – Understanding, analysing, and reviewing of technical reports and documents
- – Providing technical support to a wide variety of stakeholders including CO2 emitters, transportation providers, storage operators, regulators and financing
- – Preparing progress reports, day-to-day operations, performance improvement and training as required
- – Developing a detailed project plan to track progress and ensure feasibility
- – Showcasing your working knowledge of the CCS process, including understanding of the key processes and technologies involved in the various segments of the value chain, namely capture, transportation and storage
As part of your role you will have the chance to:
- – Establish relationships, coordinate and collaborate with relevant state authorities and CCS developers and stakeholders
- – Work, as required, with other team members, as well as with other Company teams (Environmental, Geoscience, Legal, Finance, etc.), to deliver your projects or to assist the other teams in their projects
- – Plan and attend, when required, meetings with third parties and/or investors related to the CCS sector
You will also be able to actively contribute, and further develop your skills by engaging with teams that:
- – Are involved in the development of proposals for funding
- – Are working in achieving the goals set by the management
- – Are striving to guide and share knowledge to junior personnel
We would like to hear from you if you have the following Required Qualifications, Skills/Attributes and Working Experience:
- – University degree in Engineering, Energy, Geoscience, Mathematics, Physics or other relevant discipline is required
- – Master’s Degree in fields such as: Chemical Engineering, Petroleum/Reservoir Engineering, Mechanical/Civil Engineering, Project Management
- – >3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in roles related to Carbon Capture and Storage projects. Experience in related industries (Chemical, Energy, Hydrocarbons) will also be considered.
- – Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience, in CCS or related projects, as explained in the day-to-day job responsibilities
- – Strong Project Management skills and ability to manage complex projects
- – Perform well in a fast-paced environment, constantly changing schedules and priorities, balancing external influences from internal and external clients and stakeholders
- – Strong problem-solving and data-driven decision-making abilities
- – Full professional capability in Greek and English, and excellent written and oral communication skills
Preferred Qualifications, Attributes and Previous Experience:
- – Knowledge of CO2 storage EU directive and national regulatory frameworks
- – Understanding of various business models (CfD, RAB, etc.)
- – Knowledge of contract management
- – Experience with Petrel SW
