Athens, 9 July 2024 – The Hellenic Hydrocarbons and Energy Resources Management Company (HEREMA) offers for the second consecutive year scholarships for studies at the multidisciplinary Master of Science Postgraduate Program “Hydrocarbon Exploration and Exploitation”. The MSc program is provided in English and hosted by the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (School of Geology), in collaboration with the National Technical University of Athens (School of Mining and Metallurgical Engineering), the National and Kapodistian University of Athens (Department of Geology and Geoenvironment), and the Democritus University of Thrace (Department of Economic Sciences).  

HEREMA supports the postgraduate program with €60,000 for three years in total, starting from the academic year 2023-2024. The company covers in full the fees (€5,200 for two years) of the best two candidates entering the program and the fees of the second year (€2,600) for the top-two sophomores graduating from year one. The HEREMA sponsorship also covers the cost of on-field trainings and visits to industrial facilities.

In three years’ time we’ll have assisted the efforts of 12 young students excelling academically to become the next generation of specialized scientists that will also excel in the critical energy sector. And we hope to find them in the future working alongside HEREMA for Greece’s transition to a robust and sustainable energy system.”

The multidisciplinary postgraduate program is eligible to graduates of Natural Sciences, Engineering, Environment Departments or other universities with a similar field of expertise. Interested parties may apply for the academic year 2024-2025 at the website until October 4th.

The program offers 15 places a year, providing specialized knowledge and developing advanced skills applied across the full spectrum of prospecting, exploring and producing hydrocarbons via lectures, research papers, on-field trainings, and visits to facilities associated with the hydrocarbons industry. The curriculum delves into the sector’s contemporary methods and practices, including the teaching of software for 2D/3D seismic interpretation, basin modeling, the study of petrophysics, and reservoir geomechanics. The program also teaches contemporary deep-drilling methods and construction of production wells, in connection with economics and environmental parameters.
