HHRM at the Southeast Europe Energy Forum
Hellenic Hydrocarbon Resources Management (HHRM) participated in the Southeast Europe Energy Forum, organised by the Hellenic-American Chamber of Commerce, the Hellenic Association for Energy Economics (HAEE) and the Atlantic Council. The event took place on the 7th September at MET hotel in Thessaloniki, one day before the curtain was raised at the 83rd Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF), where USA was the honoured country for 2018.
HHRM chaired “The pivotal role of oil industry in shaping SE Europe’s economies”, a discussion session regarding hydrocarbon exploration and production with representatives from ExxonMobil, Energean Oil and Helpe Upstream SA.
Yannis Bassias (President and CEO at HHRM) highlighted the promising future of hydrocarbon exploration in western and south Greece, and the East-Med pipeline project – one of the largest energy supply projects in Europe. These developments place Greece on a very important geostrategic position, particularly in the wake of the gas discoveries in Israel, Egypt and Cyprus along with the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP) which will bring natural gas from the Caspian Sea to the European market upon its completion.
Exploration activities in the Black Sea, in water depths of over 2,000 metres as well as future activities in Greece in similar or even greater water depths, will put the country at the spearhead of drilling technology, offshore safety and production for which HHRM is already the competent authority through Greek and European law.
Since 2016, HHRM has organised its technical and financial structure in order to meet its priorities which include the effective management of the contractual obligations of the operating companies in Greece as well as the negotiations of the terms for new concessions on behalf of the Greek state. The company continuously updates the international scientific community and investors, and for this purpose will participate in two very important events in October, in Bucharest, Romania. The Balkans and Black Sea Petroleum Association Seminar which will take place on October 4th regarding “Investing in Upstream Projects” and the “6th Balkans Petroleum Summit”, organised by IN-VR Oil & Gas under the auspices of the Romanian Ministry of Energy, on the 16-17th of October.
