On 8 and 9 May 2025, HEREMA CEO Aristofanis Stefatos accompanied Stavros Papastavrou, Minister of Environment and Energy, and his Deputy Minister, Nikos Tsafos, to the HQ of leading energy companies ExxonMobil and Chevron in Houston, Texas.

The delegation is part of the Greek government’s intensive efforts to develop the domestic hydrocarbon sector, in collaboration with organizations with established experience and specialized expertise in the industry.

The visit followed the acceptance on behalf of the Greek government—after HEREMA’s relevant advisory—of the expression of interest by Chevron for the concession of exploration rights in new maritime blocks. Representing Chevron, the Greek delegation was welcomed by the President of International Exploration and Production, Clay Neff, and Vice-President Liz Schwarze.

On behalf of ExxonMobil, already active in the exploration of hydrocarbons in Greece, the Greek mission was welcomed to the HQ facilities by Vice-President Dr. John Ardill, who presented the company’s strategic priorities for the immediate future. Moreover, the two parties discussed the assessment of the data that the company gathered via relevant surveys within 2024, which will inform the future activity of  ExxonMobil in the country.

In the context of the visit, ongoing and estimated energy developments were also discussed, as well as the various investment opportunities that Greece offers in the overall energy sector.
