HEREMA is managing on behalf of the Greek state the hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation rights. Also, the company has been nominated as the responsible authority for managing, on behalf of the Greek state, the rights for permitting and licensing the areas for Offshore Wind Farm (OWF) developments and for conducting measurement survey campaigns for offshore wind projects directly or through a special purpose vehicle company. Moreover, HEREMA is responsible for managing on behalf of the Greek state the rights for underground fluids storage, including the permanent storage of CO2 in geological formations. More specifically, HEREMA is the licensing authority for CO2 exploration and storage permits and is actively working with all stakeholders and the European Commission for the maturation of CCS projects in Greece, including the development of a regulatory framework and business model for the full Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS) value chain.

Within this context, HEREMA is looking to hire an Environmental Manager for all three areas of activity, who will also act as the Head of the Environmental Department. This role will be responsible for:

  • – Working across all three areas of activity and overseeing all environmental aspects that HEREMA is engaging with, from environmental reports to engagement with public authorities and private sector organisations on environmental topics.
  • – Preparing progress reports, day-to-day operations, performance improvement and training as required.
  • – Leading a team of experts regarding environmental legislation, environmental permitting and compliance.
  • – Managing and prioritising activities regarding the environmental department
  • – Engaging in public consultation procedures.

During your contractual execution you will get the chance to:

  • – Establish relationships, coordinate and collaborate with relevant state authorities, oil and gas companies, offshore wind and CCS developers.
  • – Work, as required, with other team members, as well as with other Company teams (Geoscience, Legal, Finance), to deliver the required outcomes or outputs.
  • – Plan and attend, when required, meetings with third parties and/or investors related to the aforementioned fields.

We would like to hear from you if you have the following Required Qualifications, Skills/Attributes and Working Experience:

  • – University degree and / or Master’s degree in Environmental Studies, Engineering, Renewable Energy, or other relevant discipline.
  • – Solid understanding of Environmental Impact Assessments, including development of baseline conditions and identification and assessment of impacts, across all areas of activity (e.g. ecological, socio-economic for both offshore and onshore impacts).
  • – >9 years of relevant work experience, with a strong preference in environmental permitting and offshore industries.
  • – Solid technical background, with understanding or hands-on experience, in the energy sector as explained in the day-to-day job responsibilities.
  • – Excellent knowledge of national and EU environmental legislation and procedures.
  • – Ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment, constantly changing schedules and priorities, balancing external influences from customers, colleagues and schedules.
  • – Ability to solve problems and take data-driven decisions .
  • – Full professional capability in Greek and English, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications and Attributes that will be considered a plus:

  • – Knowledge of GIS (ArcMap, ArcGIS-Pro, Q-GIS)
  • – ISO certification knowledge such as 14001
