The Hellenic Hydrocarbons and Energy Resources Management Company (HEREMA) oversees the exploration and monetization of an important part of Greece’s national energy resources. Since 2020, when the company was endowed with a new Board of Directors and a CEO, HEREMA has undergone a substantive strategic and governance transformation and today oversees strategic gas exploration, offshore wind, carbon capture, and infrastructure.

HEREMA is now seeking to appoint a Board Secretary to coordinate the growing agenda for the Board of Directors / CEO, and to support the continued constructive relationship between the Board and the Executive team. The Board Secretary is a demanding role; requiring someone with acute attention to detail and ability to think, plan, and execute with foresight. Someone comfortable in a complex operating environment with many moving parts, and the personality and maturity to engage a wide range of internal stakeholders to ensure administrative duties and performance-related matters are concluded timely and to the highest exacting standards.

Key duties

  • – Working with the Chairman / BoD and the CEO to prepare regular board / AGM meetings
  • – Timely management of pre-reads, research, and decision materials
  • – Ensuring minutes are managed in accordance with internal and regulatory requirements.
  • – Overseeing all aspects of board administration, in cooperation with the CEO’s office and – in particular – with HEREMA’s legal team and / or external legal advisors.
  • – Ensuring the timely delivery of BoD / CEO / Executive Team actions

Key skills and characteristics of the ideal candidate

  • – Excellent command of Greek and English.
  • – Relevant Degree and qualifications
  • – A proven record managing simultaneous deliverables to the highest standards.
  • – A solution-oriented person with a constructive mindset and the ability to work across multiple internal stakeholders to identify issues and devise / implement pragmatic solutions.
  • – A curious intellect and strong interest in good governance.
  • – Prior experience in a public administrative setting would be advantageous, as would a background in corporate / administrative law.
