CEO Aristofanis Stefatos represented HEREMA at the first ever Conference organized by the Hellenic Shipowners Association of Tugs, Salvage, Antipollution and Offshore Support Vessels, entitled “Safety and Growth in the Hellenic Seas.”

The event was held at the Port of Piraeus on 23 June 2025, and attended—among others—by Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Vasilis Kikilias, and Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, Giannis Kefalogiannis.

Mr. Stefatos was invited to join the panel “The future of offshore activities in Greece,” where he elaborated on HEREMA’s work regarding both offshore growth prospects and offshore safety, while also highlighting the contribution of tugs, salvage and antipollution vessels, as well as OSVs, in facilitating this work.

The role of the Greek maritime sector is key in the implementation of the country’s offshore vision, comprising hydrocarbon exploration and production, development of Offshore Wind Farms (OWF), and management of Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) projects – collectively comprising a new multi-billion industry, while also critically contributing to the country’s journey towards sustainable energy transition.

Regarding offshore safety, HEREMA is the country’s competent authority and ensures that relevant activities are performed as per domestic and European legislation, as well as international best practices. To that effect, on 5 June 2025 at the Gulf of Kavala, the company coorganized the National Exercise “Philippos 2025” – the largest Offshore Safety Readiness Exercise ever held in Greece and the wider Eastern Mediterranean region.
